Illuminated Signs
Neon is popular terminology for illuminated signs. We can certainly supply neon letters, but modern low voltage LED lighting has all but replaced neon for illuminating fabricated letters and logos.
Illuminated signs are usually lit from inside; this includes translucent letters, translucent faces, where the edge of the letter or logo is not illuminated, or halo lit letters, where the light spills out the rear of the letters or logo.
The simplest form of internally illuminated sign is the light box, where fluorescent lights illuminate a translucent face, or faces. Light boxes can also be slimline which are edge lit by fluorescent tubes or LEDs. Signs can also be externally illuminated by a range of high efficiency light sources. It is easy to get carried away with your illuminated signs. Don’t get caught in the trap of thinking that just because it lights up, that it will catch the attention of your passing customers. Good design is possibly even more important for an illuminated sign than any other.
Your type of business will help determine the right type of illuminated sign for you. If you are a retail business, light boxes and backlit menu boards are a good fit. For commercial or real estate business, a good reverse-lit ‘halo effect’ from 3-dimensional fabricated acrylic letters is a popular look.
