Behind the scenes of Désordre's illuminated sign

There were a few design challenges with Désordre's illuminated sign: we needed to design a sign that would really stand out, without blocking the view of the window behind it, so it couldn't be on a backing panel or box. We tried a number of concepts with the lettering on rails, but the rails made the sign visually busy. We landed on a design for a frame that mostly hides the rails, with longer "struts" attached behind the largest letters. Ultimately there was no way to obscure the strut holding up the accent over the "é", but other than that the frame is very subtle. Our client Shannon definitely challenged us to achieve a really terrific result - but we loved the challenge and look forward to working with Désordre again!
